The Kentucky man took home a big check

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb up. Now, the Powerball jackpot is worth about $675 million. 

A Kentucky man picked up a ticket for that Saturday night when the jackpot was an estimated $615 million and won more than $50,000.

In a Monday press release, Kentucky Lottery officials said the man, who was identified only by his first name, Michael, of Walton, Ky., won the third-biggest prize. His ticket matched four of the white ball numbers and the red Powerball number.

The ticket was sold at Mac’s Liquor & Wine on Mary C. Grubbs Highway.

In Saturday's drawing, the winning numbers were 7, 23, 24, 32, 43, and red ball 18. According to the release, Michael matched the 7, 24, 32, 43, and 18.


“I was shocked…I don’t even know how else to describe it when I won $50,000”. Lottery officials said he made his first call to his mother.

At the Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville, Michael got a check for $35,750 after taxes. 

With his winnings, he wants to pay off his car and save. The liquor store in Walton will get a $500 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

According to Kentucky Lottery, The cash value of Monday’s Powerball drawing is estimated at $340.9 million.
