Business at Oxnard's Master's Donuts doubles
due to winning Mega Millions ticket
On Friday, just before midnight, a customer called the 24/7 donut shop to tell staff that a winning ticket worth about $1.7 million was bought at the restaurant.
Owner Michelle Senna said A lucky customer at Master’s Donuts in Oxnard won the prize by matching five of six numbers on a Mega Millions lottery ticket last week.
By the next morning, customers had stood up out the door of the business at 1911 N. Oxnard Blvd., near the intersection with Gonzales Road.
The crowd continued till Wednesday. “We’re twice as busy,” Senna said.
Carolyn Becker, deputy director of the California Lottery, said the organization would investigate the winning ticket before announcing a winner and awarding the money.
Senna said she will get just over $8,000 because the ticket was bought at her doughnut shop.
Senna works seven days a week. The money she got was not enough to go on vacation with her five kids and grandchild. She’ll use the money to take a few days off from work.
She doesn't know much about last week's lucky winner, he was a man and a regular customer.
But he came back to the restaurant Wednesday afternoon to buy more lottery tickets.
This is the second big payout winning at her doughnut shop. Several years ago, a $1 million ticket was sold at Senna's doughnut shop.
In the next Mega Millions drawing on Friday, the jackpot is estimated at about $560 million.
