Staten Islander wins a win-for-life lottery prize.  He will not have to wait for his winnings if he takes a lump sum payment. 

Gerard Hampton won 2nd prize in the CASH4LIFE NY Lottery game on May 4, by matching the first five numbers. He chose $1,000 a week for life, with the option of a $1 million lump sum. 

After deducting the required taxes from the lump sum payment, Hampton received $601,114. He purchased a lucky winning ticket at Reliance Wine & Liquor on Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp.

Staten Island's New York Lottery Winning Streak

The win is great in a series of New York Lottery for Staten Islanders. 

Last week, the New York Lottery revealed a winning scratch-off ticket for the $3 million top prize that was sold at a Staten Island deli. The winning 10X scratch-off ticket was purchased recently at Sunrise Gourmet Deli, located in Richmond. According to New York Lottery press release, Staten Island-based limited liability company (LLC), came forward to claim the prize and will take a lump sum payment of $1,573,457 after required taxes. 

Glenn Walther Jr. claimed his $1 million top prize on the Golden Fortune scratch-off game. The lucky ticket was sold at Keshi’s Deli, located at 220 Port Richmond Ave. in Port Richmond. New York Lottery announced after the required withholdings, Walther received a single lump sum payout of $465,302.

And formerly in January, when the Powerball reached a record-breaking jackpot, KP Deli Corp in Rosebank sold a third-place Powerball prize worth $50,000. 

Then, in February, a $1 million second-place Powerball prize was marketed by Liberty News & Gifts inside the Whitehall Terminal for the Staten Island Ferry in lower Manhattan.

In 2022, at least three residents of boroughs collected jackpot prizes in the millions from New York Lottery prizes.

A woman has won the top prize of $5 million in the New York Lottery's $5,000,000 Riches Scratch-Off game.

On July 26, 2022, another winner claimed the second prize of $1 million in the Mega Millions drawing.
On January 24 of that year, a man purchased the winning ticket and took home the second-place prize of $1 million. Powerball winning ticket was sold at MetroMart NY, located inside the Staten Island Mall in New Springville.
