Over the years, a few lucky lottery winners won eight and nine-figure Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots in Wisconsin.

The winners were from a group of employees at a well-known Wisconsin cheese company to a man from a prominent small-town family.

Here are the top 10 largest Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots in Wisconsin Lottery history:

March 27, 2019

A $768.4 million Powerball lottery ticket was sold at a Speedway in New Berlin.  

According to the Wisconsin Lottery, this was the third-largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever at the time.

Miguel Franco of West Allis, then 24, was identified as the winner and received a lump sum payout of $477 million.

When Franco became a Powerball winner in April 2019, he helped the world to order his affairs.

January 5, 2022

An Oneida couple won a split jackpot of $632.6  million from a ticket purchased at a Citgo in Ashwaubenon.

According to the Wisconsin Lottery, Tammy and Cliff Webster, a married couple from Oneida, won a $316.3 million Powerball jackpot. 

Because the other half was divided with another winner who purchased their ticket in California.

This is the ninth-largest Powerball jackpot in its history.

The Websters chose $225.1 million cash, which totaled take home $153.9 million after federal and state taxes. 

The couple are members of the Oneida Nation, and Cliff previously worked for the tribe's security department.

August 5, 2006

A group of Sargento Food employees won a Powerball jackpot of $208.6 million off a ticket bought in Fond du Lac. 

100 co-workers were in the largest group at the time to participate in the jackpot prize and split the winnings equally.

Most workers choose the lump sum payment, which was between $660,000 and $670,000 after taxes.

May 20, 1998

A man and woman from Illinois won a Powerball jackpot of $195 million off a ticket bought in Pell Lake.

According to the Wisconsin Lottery, the winners were Frank and Shirley C. of Streamwood, Ill.

March 22, 2017

A Milwaukee woman won a Powerball jackpot of $156.2 million from a ticket purchased in Pewaukee.

According to Journal Sentinel reporting, the winner of the jackpot was Milwaukee resident Mai Xiong.

She received a one-time cash payment of $93.1 million after required state and federal taxes.

September 15, 2020

According to the Wisconsin Lottery, the jackpot was the state's first Mega Millions jackpot since it began on January 31, 2010. 

The winner, Adrian Tongson of Racine, took home a $95.4 million cash payout. According to a Journal Sentinel report, Tongson is the only person to have ever won a Mega Millions jackpot in Wisconsin.

Following his win, Tongson told Mega Millions he was a regular Mega Millions player he checked his ticket weeks after the drawing and hadn't realized he'd won the jackpot until. 

Tongson left his job after the win.

July 7, 1993

Fond du Lac junior high teacher Les Robins won the record-setting  Powerball jackpot of $111 million.

He purchased the 226-acre camp with some of his lottery winnings.

He said winning the lottery changed his life. After winning, Robins had to go to court to legally divide the prize money with his ex-fiancĂ©. 

March 31, 2007

According to the Powerball lottery association, an unknown lucky winner won a Powerball jackpot of $40.7 million. 

The name of the winner has remained withheld who purchased their ticket in Wisconsin.

A Thiensville man won a Powerball jackpot of $36.8 million on a ticket bought locally.

October 14, 2009

Douglas P. Miron, a Marinette County woodworker and son of the county's former District Attorney, won the Powerball jackpot.

 He received a lump sum payout of $16.7 million, which was reduced to $11.2 million after required state and federal taxes.

 Miron planned to buy new vehicles, a house with an airstrip, and other real estates with his winnings.

He also helped some friends with small businesses. He bought a bar and pizza place he named Giachino's and hired friends to work there.

Meron serve a year in prison, pay a $55,000 fine, and faced four years of probation for his crimes.
