A West Lafayette, Indiana resident has won a
$440,000 prize through the Connecticut Lottery
this week
According to the Connecticut Lottery, The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven on Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. The winner wants to remain anonymous on the winner's list.
According to the Connecticut Lottery, the winner's name and hometown cannot remain anonymous when claiming a prize, if the winner wants to remain anonymous then the recipient can remove their name from the published winners' list after claiming their prize.
Moreover, the Connecticut Lottery has recently begun to only publish the first initial of winners' last names in order to be safe from "potential scams."
The $440,000 prize was won off of a "$20,000 a year for life" scratch game. The winner can get the grand prize of $20,000 a year for life as an annuity, or in a lump sum of $440,000.
The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 3,333,333.33.
Last month, the largest prize of $825,000 claimed by a Monroe resident won in the Connecticut Lottery.
